In a LA Times report, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has accepted free items valued at $42,200 over the past 6 years. These items include:
* $19,000 Bible from Republican donor
* $15,000 for a Lincoln bust from the American Enterprise Institute
* $5,000 cash gift from a mobile home enthusiast
* $1,200, tires from a trucking executive
* $1,200, batteries from former law clerks
* $800 jacket from Daytona 500 auto race
Huh? $5k from a "mobile home enthusiast"? Who in their right mind would even call themselves a mobile home enthusiast? And $1200 in tires and batteries, each? The guy makes almost $200k/year. Can't he afford to buy his own tires and batteries? And oh boy, a bible valued at $19k. I sure hope that gets him special privileges upstairs.
