Ellie asked me if Santa and God heard everything she said. I said, yes. She then asked if Santa and God knew everything she thought. I said, I didn't think so. Only Ellie knows what is in Ellie's thoughts, I suggested. Ellie was quiet for a moment and said, "mom, God knows what I'm thinking because God is in my heart." We're not very religious and are really bad, infrequent church goers, but I thought that was pretty profound for a 5 year old.
