Uranus

On Saturday, we went to Greenwich, England, the real center of time. It was a perfectly warm day and the kids enjoyed taking a boat ride to Greenwich along the Thames River.

We stopped in the Maritime Museum where the kids enjoyed learning about battleships. In the center of the Museum, there was a show for families about the planetary system. We sat in the audience as the British speaker asked the kids questions and if they got it right, they were able to play a part in a small show. Declan won the first question, the closest planet to the sun. He ran up to become Mercury. A few questions later, Kiki answered the question of "what is the biggest planet" and became Jupiter. The speaker then asked what the next planet was and a beaming Ellie shouted: "UR-ANUS!" (not knowing what the word "anus" means). The speaker became a bit red-faced and said, "er, well, the proper pronunciation of this planet is "ur-eh-nus" but come along!" We explained the "anus" part to Ellie afterwards. I've never seen her face turn so red. :)
