Tonight is Oscar night and I have to admit, I find the entire scene completely irritating. Actors have jobs, just like everyone else, but then once a year, the world stops to reflect upon who looks great, who doesn't, who did a great job, and who didn't make the cut. This is the only industry that so many people care about jobs well done. Shouldn't there be a similar extravaganza for people who do more important jobs such as saving lives or something more meaningful than entertainment? There's the Nobel Peace Prize--that's cool. But it doesn't drum up nearly as much attention as the Oscars.

Maybe I'm just grumpy from a lack of sleep.
